Why should I work with a company?
Hiring a company, as opposed to a DJ working on their own, has some real advantages:
If the DJ gets sick, or there is any issue with the DJ, you don't have to look for a new one. We will have one for you.
We have a full time admin team to answer your questions same-day
Prices and music samples are clearly posted on our website
Our pricing is transparent as a company. Every couple (in the same general location) gets the same price
Our owner Ben truly cares and has been known to get on calls with couples to lend an ear, to troubleshoot problems unrelated to DJing, and to even show up to venues when there was an emergency
We work full time on improving our couples' experience. We will be with you every step of your wedding journey!
Music
How many songs can we choose for our wedding?
Will you play our playlist at the wedding?
What if the music we love isn’t popular with our guests?
Devote part of the dance set to music your guests know.
When your personal favorites are playing—especially ones your guests might not know—it really helps if YOU are out on the dance floor. Seeing you enjoy the music encourages them to join in.
We aren't miracle workers. We can't get your cousin to dance to Fred Again if they've never heard him before. But these two tips should do the trick!
Can we send you a playlist from Spotify or Apple Music?
Do you play wedding classics or wedding songs?
Do you have sample playlists?
Yes! We have over 150. Check our Spotify account and the DJ bio pages.
Will the DJ play their own music at our wedding?
Not unless you ask them to. If the DJ specializes in Caribbean music parties when they are not playing at weddings, or is in a rock band, that does not mean they are going to play that type of music at your wedding. Our DJs never do that.
Our DJs are complete music chameleons. This is 90% of the job. (The other 10% is hauling equipment).
Our DJs play the types of music that you ask for. In the case that you don't specify, they read the crowd and play things that appeal to your guests.
We are busy and don't have a lot of time for planning...
Planning
What is your planning process?
What is the music worksheet like?
It is a Google doc. It has these sections:
Logistics (like what time dinner starts)
Traditions (like ceremony songs and who is giving a speech)
Music for all parts of the wedding
A must-play list
A do-not-play list
Whether you want your guests to make song requests
Sections to put your preferences for any add-ons (like photo booth or lights)
What is the final planning call like?
Should I hire a wedding planner?
Yes, if possible
The "easy" weddings aren't that easy
Your guests will notice if things are running late or happen in an unusual way
Some coordinators provided with your venue or caterer aren't great (some are excellent)
There are 3 main types: Full, month-of, and day-of. At least consider a day-of coordinator please
Several of our couples have used a friend who works in corporate events, a stage manager, a restaurant manager, etc... This didn't always go well
Can your DJ run our wedding on the day-of?
Not really
Someone needs to make a timeline for us
The DJ can follow the timeline, but no wedding runs exactly to the times predicted beforehand. And our DJ can't be in the kitchen asking them when the salads are coming out, or getting the photographers into the room for your dad's speech. Some of our DJs do these things because they are so experienced, but ultimately the responsibility can't be on them.
Our DJs will make all the announcement you need, but normally there is someone telling them when to make it. This can be your coordinator, caterer, or friend
Our DJs will do what they can to help!
Please hire a coordinator or planner if possible
DJing
Do you mix songs, or just hit play?
Will you take guest song requests at the wedding?
We went to a wedding where the DJ played songs for only 30 seconds before switching to the next one. Do you do that?
Do you play remixes or mashups during dancing?
Our parents are worried you will play the music loud at dinner and they won't be able to talk. Do you do that?
Do the DJs have different styles?
Yes and no. When DJing at a club, our DJs might have different styles. But for a wedding, they are trained to be music chameleons. Our DJs are incredibly good at matching your style and taste.
Some of them know niche genres better, like Italo Disco or Afrobeats. At least half are bilingual and know music from different cultures. But all of them can get your guests dancing to your favorite genres of music.
Do you hype up the crowd on the microphone during dancing?
Do you have videos of your DJs performing at weddings?
Yes! Check out our Instagram to see our DJs in action.

What if our venue doesn't have any equipment there?
Do you provide microphones for the wedding ceremony?
Can you provide sound for multiple spaces at the venue?

How much space does wedding DJ equipment take up?
What does your setup look like?
Set Up and Breakdown
Is setup and breakdown included in your pricing?
Do you move equipment during the event?
Do you set up a microphone for ceremony?
Select smaller venue price
Do you charge a lower price for smaller venues?
Which smaller venues are a lower price?
Do all of your DJs participate in this program?
What is the criteria for these smaller venues?
What if there's a small venue not on the list?
Do we need a ceremony microphone?
Usually, yes. If you are having a wedding ceremony at your venue and you have more than 40 guests, you will probably need a microphone. The DJ is normally the one who provides the microphone. For the associate DJs, you get a 4-hour timeframe before going into overtime. If your ceremony starts at 5:30, you would need your DJ to start then, and the four-hour clock would start ticking at 5:30 p.m.

Lights
What are uplights?
Uplights are small lights placed on the floor to shine colorful light up walls, columns, or ceilings. They add a classy or fun vibe to the space and can match the wedding colors or change throughout the night for different moods—super popular for turning a basic room into something magical!
Make your room, and photos, look better
Make dancing more fun
See examples here.
What are party lighting stands?
These are T-shaped stands with colorful lights that shine on the dance floor, adding a fun, energetic vibe. Perfect for parties!
See examples here.
What is a standing disco ball?
A standing disco ball is a cool setup with a disco ball on a stand, with lights shining on it to create that classic sparkling effect. It’s great for adding a retro vibe and making the dance floor feel extra fun and lively! Does not hang from the ceiling.
See examples here.
Travel Fee
Do you travel for weddings?
How much does travel cost for weddings?
Travel is $250 per hour (one way) for venues more than 59 minutes away. Check our travel fee map here to find your cost.
My venue is missing from the travel fee map
We are happy to add your venue to the travel fee map! Email hello@ntweddingdjs.com and we will take care of it.
Musicians
Can we book a musician from you?
Do you offer hybrid DJ + musician performances?
Can we bring live musicians to play with your DJ?
Will you provide equipment for our musician?
Not really, but your musician is welcome to use whatever our DJ has available.
This usually involves the musician plugging their cable into the DJ's equipment so the musician's music is played through the speakers. Or using one of the DJ's mics. But we cannot guarantee this and it is not always available.
The DJ will not bring extra cables, mixers, mic stands, sheet music stands, or any extra equipment for your musician. We ask they supply their own equipment.
